After a mission that went south, a soldier finds himself alone in the middle of the desert. He has to survive the hostile nature that surrounds him, but mostly himself, his fears and regrets. The producer Peter Safran is the same of Buried and The Conjuring. The real news, though, is that the scripwriters and the directors are Italian: Fabio Guaglione and Fabio Resinaro. The movie has been shot for over a month in Spain, between Canary Islands and Barcelona, and it’s now in the post-production phase. Rounding out the cast of Mine are the blonde-haired Anabelle Wallis (who played the leading role in the horror Annabelle) and Tom Cullen (famous for his role in the TV-show Downtown Abbey).

After not making a feature film for half-a-decade, director Luca Guadagnino is on quite a productive streak recently. His reunion with Tilda Swinton after I Am Love, the highly recommended A Bigger Splash, is now in theaters, and he plans to shoot his remake of Suspiria this fall. In between, he’s quietly begun production on a new feature.
Although there was no formal announcement, it’s been revealed to be an adaptation of André Aciman‘s novel Call Me By Your Name. Scripted by James Ivory and the director, it follows a 17-year-old boy who begins a romance with his father’s house guest. Taking the role of the boy is Interstellar star Timothée Chalamet while Michael Stuhlbarg (A Serious Man) plays his father and Armie Hammer (who will soon be seen in Ben Wheatley‘s Free Fire and Tom Ford‘s Nocturnal Animals) takes the role of the house guest.
With filming already underway as of two weeks ago — Sayombhu Mukdeeprom (Arabian Nights, Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives) will serve as DP — Guadagnino has promised “plenty of nudity,” which is no surprise if you’ve seen his latest work. “One of the biggest inspiration is the 1983 movie A nos amours by Maurice Pialat and if you watch it, it has nothing of that somewhat stupid idea of big shoulders, big stripes and big hair,” he tells WWD.
I have added 16 images of Armie filming “Final Portrait “ to our photo archive.
The 28-year-old co-stars as writer James Lord in Final Portrait with the neighbourhood streets standing in for Paris in the 1960s.
The young American interviewed Swiss painter and sculptor Alberto Giacometti, played by Geoffrey Rush, as he painted Lord’s picture in 1964 – his final work before his death two years later at 64.
Actor Stanley Tucci is directing Final Portrait from his own script, based on Lord’s book, A Giacometti Portrait. The movie also stars Clemence Poésy and Tony Shalhoub.

Fox Searchlight is closing a $17.5 million deal to acquire worldwide rights to “The Birth of a Nation,” a drama about the 1831 slave rebellion led by Nat Turner, that had an electrifying premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
The Weinstein Company, Netflix, Paramount, and Sony were among the companies making offers on the picture, Variety has learned. Bidding lasted through the night, with one company, believed to be Netflix, offering $20 million for the picture. The deal is the richest in Sundance history.
The film was written and directed by Nate Parker, who also stars as Turner and invested his own money in the production. Parker is best known for his work in “The Great Debaters” and “Beyond the Lights.” The response to the picture was seismic and the Oscar buzz erupted as soon as the lights went up following the picture’s debut at the Eccles Theatre.
In a rave review, Variety critic Justin Chang wrote, “‘The Birth of a Nation’ exists to provoke a serious debate about the necessity and limitations of empathy, the morality of retaliatory violence, and the ongoing black struggle for justice and equality in this country. It earns that debate and then some.”
The cast includes Armie Hammer, Penelope Ann Miller, Jackie Earle Haley and Mark Boone Junior. WME handled sales of the film.
